Professional info

Working in an ER setting over the years has provided a wealth of experience and the opportunity to work side by side with many nurse practitioners and medical doctors.  The professionals I have worked with have allowed me to ask numerous questions, in addition to sharing in their triumphs and struggles as rural primary health care providers.  The most frequent struggle we encounter in the ER is a lack of education when it comes to patient health and lack of education for family members.  I truly feel that clear, articulate education can avert the onset of many chronic diseases, or can at least help reduce the severity of the disease.  As a DNP prepared FNP I look forward to securing a leadership role where I can help educate not only the patient, but the patient’s family.

University of Wyoming, DNP-FNP

2013 - (anticipated) 2016

The DNP program at the University of Wyoming educates advanced practice nurses (APNs) who utilize evidence to create innovative ways to improve health care. The DNP program provides

clinical experiences in the rural Rocky Mountain region, which is one of the reasons this program was so attractive to me. I am honored, to have been given the opportunity to earn a doctorate degree from the University of Wyoming.

University of Wyoming, BSN

2004 - 2008

The University of Wyoming Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing boasts a "small school" atmosphere. Learning facilities include state-of-the-art classrooms and Clinical Simulation Center.  As an undergraduate student, I was initially attracted to the University of Wyoming because I appreciated the diversity of coursework offered at this institution and was fond of the relatively small class sizes compared to similar universities. Since the age of three, I have lived in rural Wyoming communities and was raised a fan of the Cowboys and Cowgirls, so attending UW was a source of pride for me. While I had not anticipated settling down in this state, I now recognize that Wyoming offers tremendous advantages those who live and work here.
